Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement (6 months). Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.As an intern in the Power Systems engineering team, you will play an active role in project execution and process improvement. Working closely with engineers, you will help analyze and refine internal processes and templates through automation solutions, enhancing efficiency and accuracy across documentation workflows. This position offers insights into diverse engineering areas while allowing you to apply programming and automation skills to streamline operations.The work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-HybridYou will be mainly responsible for:•Collaborate with engineers to analyze and improve existing processes and internal templates, understanding the requirements and refining them through automation solutions. This will improve efficiency and accuracy across various documentation processes and provide you with an overview of multiple aspects of engineering•Develop and implement tools to streamline the creation of technical documents and reports for various processes, including equipment specifications, technical calculations, Inspection Test Plans (ITP), Quality Control Plans, and Risk Assessments•Evaluate the best automation methods for each application, allowing for the effective use of tools such as Python, VBA, MS Power Apps, MS Power Automate to tailor solutions to specific needs•Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Power Systems department and project execution•Consolidate technical knowledge into our know-how database•Support the creation and updating of structured and comprehensive guidelines and processes related to specific equipment design

Qualifications for the role

  • You are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in electrical engineering or similar field
  • You have previous exposure to software development or scripting languages
  • You are collaborative, solution-focused and have strong written and spoken communication skills
  • You possess a high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and a desire to learn about new technologies, with aspiration to develop into a lead engineering role, which will include significant technical project management responsibilities
  • You are fluent in English, both written and spoken; any other language knowledge is an advantage
  • Non-EU/non-EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from your university, showing that an internship is a mandatory part of your studies, is required for the visa application
